Bulletproof Monk

  • proficient with pistols
  • can flurry with a gun by spending 1 point of ki; may reload the gun during the round as a free action (and fully reload the gun afterward) by spending 3 ki when activating the flurry
    • does a number of attacks with a single pistol equal to half the amount of attacks he could do in a flurry, but with two pistols, may make his full number of flurry attacks; attacks must originate from each pistol in sequence (so the first gun makes attack number 1, 3, 5, etc and the second gun makes attack number 2, 4, 6, etc)
  • may make the flurry with any combination of unarmed strikes, weapon strikes, and pistol shots he can do
  • 6th level: ki pool
    • is treated as grit for any abilities or feats which use grit; combines with grit pool if he has one
    • can apply ki focus; ki intensifying at 14thish level – lasts for 1 round, costs 1 ki; deliver ki abilities as per ki focus within pistol’s first range increment
  • as long as he has ki he can bypass DR with his gun equal to his unarmed strike of his monk level -4
  • can shoot his gun by spending 1 ki as a standard action: does not need bullets or powder, works in vacuum or underwater and even while the gun has the broken condition from misfire
    • provokes unless he doesn’t provoke for ranged attacks
    • fires a shot of ki which can travel the first range increment of his gun and does damage equal to unarmed strike of his monk level -4; otherwise like ki blast ki power
    • can stack the ki focus enhancement on at the same time for the usual cost
  • Bonus Feats:
    • 1st level: rapid reload, deadly aim, any grit feat he meets the prerequisites for, any gunslinger grit class feature of his monk level or lower
    • 6th level:
    • 10th level:
  • 7th level: Bullet Catch
    • can spend 1 ki as an immediate action to use deflect arrow and snatch arrow against single-bullet firearm attacks: requires a reflex save vs attack (instead of being automatic like normal); successful save deflects or catches the bullet.
    • evasion applies to this, but the archetype gets evasion/improved evasion later than usual
  • later, by spending 2 additional ki, the monk can telekinetically stop any projectile(s) that would pass through his melee-threatened squares
    • meaning he cannot stop ranged weapons/attacks if he threatens at range (such as through snap shot)
    • projectiles fall to ground at the end of the creature’s turn; spell-created objects or projectiles dissipate
    • this may allow him to prevent allies from getting hit by attacks if they are within his melee-threatened range
    • can spend ki to then telekinetically throw back projectiles. At 15thish level, this is treated as if using his ki shot ability, bypassing DR and doing damage as though he had fired the projectile from his gun
  • bullet catch levels up at the top end of the class to allow deflecting multi-bullet attacks, then any type of ranged touch attack
  • loses purity of body, wholeness of body, diamond body, timeless body, empty body, tongue of the sun and moon, abundant step
    • possibly gains grit talents (gunslinger) of his monk level as gunslinger level, or grit feats
    • possibly just increase the rate of bonus feats and add those options to the list
  • possibly maneuver training is replaced by the ability to use and reload a gun without provoking
