Bloatmage

Pathfinder’s Bloatmage sucks. You use blood to gain additional castings of spells per day, essentially having Pearl of Power as your class feature. Whoopee.

My idea for Bloatmage is that you instead can spontaneously add metamagic to a spell, whether you’re a prepared caster or a spontaneous caster. If you run low on blood, you can also begin to consume your HP and CON to get a few more metamagic spells out, but at the cost of possibly dying. This version plays a dangerous game, gambling with its sanity and life for the opportunity to get another nuke off.

Also, instead of just being fat all the time, this Bloatmage is like Sullivan’s from Ruby Phoenix (the Eunuch): when the Bloatmage is engorged with blood they’re under the effects of heavier and heavier loads, but as they use the blood they quickly reduce their weight, eventually winding up skinny and tapped of their power! They essentially trade off mobility for intense magical reserves, then wind up nimble and shit! It’s disgusting!
